About
Hi, my name is Garold Larson. You may be wondering what my qualifications are to write and give advice on the topic of Self Mastery. I’m an ordinary person just like you with and extraordinary desire to continually improve myself and help others do the same. I’m a husband to an amazing wife, a father to six wonderful children, a believer in God, a lover of the outdoors, a computer geek, a runner of ten marathons, with an unquenchable thirst to master all areas of my life.
I believe that actions speak louder than words and that a proven track record holds more weight than a certificate or degree on the wall. So I tend to write more from personal experience than from theory. It’s easier and more credible to teach something you have already done yourself. I’m not an expert, coach, consultant or doctor. I write from real experience from real life.
The majority of my writing comes from two types of personal experience. The first are those experiences that have come about after many years of effort to improve myself. The second are those experiences I am currently having as I continue to strive for self-mastery.
My quest for self-mastery has been an ongoing process for much of my life and will continue for the rest of my life. As I have progressed through life there have been a number of areas I feel I have mastered and others where I have failed but learned much. My intent is not to boast but to share with you some of the areas where I feel I have succeeded:
This may not sound like an accomplishment, but in today’s world it is. I have been married to the same wonderful woman for 26 years and we are as much in love today as we ever were. Lisa is my hero and the ultimate example of self-mastery.
Anybody can father six kids, but to have six great kids is a major accomplishment in my book. I’m not sure how much credit I really deserve but at least I didn’t ruin them. I still have three teenage children at home that are a blast to have around. I learn something from them every day.
Totally Debt Free.
Lisa and I have been totally debt free for a number of years and we absolutely love it. We didn’t start out that way and it was a long, hard process to get out of debt but well worth it.Live the Simple Life.
Lisa and I have purposely chosen to avoid the “Affluenza” lifestyle. We try to be frugal and wise and consciously choose to live a simple life and love it. When I say simple life I don’t mean a poor life or a boring life. What I mean is a life unencumbered with too much “stuff.” We believe that experiencing things is of much greater worth than owning things.Runner of Ten Marathons.
I have trained for and run ten different marathons. Anyone who has run a marathon understands what 26.2 miles of self-mastery is all about.
Well there you have it. I still have a long way to go. Remember, this site, its content, and my life are works in progress. My views, ideas and thoughts will probably change over time as I learn, experience and discover new ways to master myself. My intent is to share with you what I learn along the way. So please come along for the journey!
Warm regards,
Garold
